Zika Virus

Zika Virus is a mosquito-borne illness. The World Health Organization (WHO) has predicted that in 2016, 3-4 million people will be affected. While yes, that is alarmingly high, the disease is preventable so get your information now!

This disease is not deadly in most cases. There are many symptoms to look out for and some people will not show any symptoms at all. The disease is worrisome the most for expectant mothers. If present in a baby, the disease could cause abnormality.

The disease is spreading very quickly and is confirmed present in more than 20 countries. Some of those countries include; Aruba, Barbados, Bonaire, Curacao, The Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Jamaica, Martinique, Puerto Rico, Saint Martin, Trinidad and Tobago, and U.S. Virgin Islands.

Signs and symptoms of Zika include: fever, rash, joint pain, red eyes, muscle pain, and headache. If you suffer from any of these signs and symptoms please contact your primary care physician.
